Sentinel was a participatory mail art project. Early 19th century field guide designs were used as a starting point for the postcard, which illustrates Maine’s most endangered bird species. A recording of one canary song was played at the mailing station. Native bird species mimicked the song creating a cacophony of canary songs in the natural environment.
