To Flights
Mixed Media Installation
To Flights was a collaborative project with my kindergarten through fifth grade students. Their dreams and aspirations take flight up two flights of stairs.
I am rendered as a silhouette drawing on the first landing.
An umbrella created from the students writing and their donated red crayons, is suspended from the ceiling on the second floor.
On the first floor landing viewers look through graphite binoculars and read the students writing that makes up the interior of the umbrella. However, in doing so the viewer is subjected to being marked with the graphite.
